Neal Rosenthal

Born in Brooklyn,  New York in 1953. Moved from Rockville Center, New York to Los Angles California in 1964.

Never living more than five miles from an oceanic coast, Neal gravitated toward surfing, hiking, cycling and then later to sailing. As Neal's farther was an amateur photographer, Neal always had cameras on hand to document his life. Neal's mother was an outstanding home cook with a sense of adventure in her cooking style, so it was natural for Neal to pursue a career in foods.

Neal has been passionate about food and sailing all of his adult life. He grew up in an environment rich in the philosophy of serving “Farm to Table” foods, and menus that changed with our seasons. This has led to a career of over 40 years in the food and beverage service industry. He was formally trained in service, working over the years with an array of talented Chefs. He owned and was Chef of two restaurants and has consulted on many more. Neal has been the owner and Chef of Channel Islands Provisioners which he started with his partner Julia Huffman in 2013.

Neal started sailing in 1973 while living in Hawaii. Over the course of the next 40 years he has owned three boats and has crewed and cooked on many. He skippered day boat charters in Lahaina Maui, cruised Baja California and sailed to and from Hawaii. Currently based out of Ventura, he cruises around the Southern California coast and the Channel Islands.

Neal is now semi retired, currently he is serving luncheon on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the historical Bard Mansion, located on the Port Hueneme Seabee Base.

Neal is also available to prepare and serve small dinner parties at your home or aboard your boat.
